Job Description
LIMELIGHT is seeking an experienced and strategic Managing Director, Law Firm Growth, to lead and grow a portfolio of law firm and professional services accounts. This role is ideal for a senior communications professional with at least 8 years of experience in marketing, media relations, or growth communications—preferably within an agency environment. The right candidate will have a proven track record of securing high-profile media placements, identifying emerging news trends, and delivering standout results for B2B and professional services clients.
As a senior leader, you’ll play a central role in shaping LIMELIGHT’s success—driving client strategies, mentoring high-performing teams, and overseeing both the creative and operational execution of impactful communications campaigns. You’re not only a media relations expert but also a trusted advisor, known for building strong client relationships and delivering forward-thinking counsel. In this position, you’ll manage account performance, team dynamics, and business development, while contributing to LIMELIGHT’s broader strategic goals.
Roles + Responsibilities
Media Relations & Account Management
- Serve as a senior leader across a portfolio of legal and professional services clients, driving the development and execution of strategic media relations initiatives aligned with both immediate objectives and long-term business goals.
- Oversee the operational and financial health of account teams, ensuring quality work, timely delivery, and adherence to processes that meet or exceed agreed-upon metrics and expectations.
- Collaborate with internal departments (Content, Digital, Research, Design) and external partners to execute integrated, creative communications campaigns.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients and senior executives, offering strategic counsel on media and communications strategies.
- Bring a deep understanding of clients’ industries and business challenges to deliver high-impact, tailored communications solutions.
- Provide strategic direction and mentorship to team members, fostering continuous development of their knowledge and skills in servicing legal and professional services accounts.
Business Development
- Partner with LIMELIGHT leadership’s business development efforts through proactive relationship-building, strategic opportunity identification, and RFP response management.
- Drive pitch strategy and execution: lead meetings, shape scopes of work, conduct research, and craft compelling proposals.
- Expand existing client relationships by identifying growth opportunities and partnering with cross-functional teams and international networks to broaden engagement.
Supervisory & Leadership
- Provide hands-on leadership to inspire, guide, and grow high-performing teams
Mentor and coach staff, ensuring their professional development aligns with agency goals and individual career paths. - Offer strategic oversight and clear feedback through regular performance evaluations and daily guidance.
- Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, creativity, and expertise in all aspects of your work.
- Embrace continuous learning and set ambitious goals that push both individual and agency-wide progress.
- Champion initiatives that reinforce the agency’s mission, vision, and values internally and externally.
- Lead innovation efforts related to new services, offerings, or process enhancements.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement and support change management initiatives to drive agency growth and efficiency.
Qualifications
- 8-12 years PR agency/in-house communications experience with a focus on law firms; journalism background a plus.
- Expert media relations skills and media relationships with demonstrated ability for messaging and storytelling.
- Exceptional account and client management skills; proven ability to build strong client relationships and manage workflow and profitability of account teams.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills in an entrepreneurial agency setting.
- Proven ability to write strategic media plans and a variety of client materials with limited oversight; track record of executing large scale campaigns at the strategic and tactical level.
- Extensive experience counseling lawyers and senior business leaders on communications matters; experience conducting media training and handling crisis communications matters a plus.
- Proven track record developing and securing new business.
- Fluent understanding of the legal and professional services markets, strong industry connections and a track record of pitching and winning new business.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. - A passion for law firm and lawyer communications strategies
